Ok...thanks...then I need to get to work

I have only shortly studied this and I know that my share setting allow things to be across the array atm by decision made few years ago but... a) if folder..lets say G shows that thing are allocated across 5 different disks...if I set in settings that I want all the folder data to be re-allocated only to 'disk 2' will the array understand this automatically and regroup all data accordingly? Or do I need to hunt down those files manually... And if not then is the only option to remove data....save new settings and rewrite data again?

Yes, one of my friends said that it might be defected....as it did it so fast.....but nothing wrong with setting or any major issue with machine itself ?

Yes, the server will inform that is was 5 the 10 and now 15 (in 3 separate box), it does that regularly....but I don´t know will it increase more from that

Ok, so I decided to add a cache drive, to speed some things up with data transfer. I bought WD blue 1 tb SSD to start with, about a month ago. I watched the youtube vid about the cache and the setup. Q1 IF the drive fails....I have now setup (as it said in the vid) shared appdata, domains and system to setting as "use cache"-Prefer. -Now the shares tab has all these shares in Yellow triangle to indicate that, some or all files unprotected, so if the drive fails, should those share be lost also..? - what should the setting be then ? Q2 SO the drive has now started to indicate some issues every time I open the control of my server and the Reallocated sector count is now 15 and somehow the SMART report is showing yellow thump down. The last SMART scan resulted as:Completed without error as I did it just now. SO should I be worried about the rising count and what would be smart choice of action about those shares...? thanx

Did everything as instructed and seems to be working, I found easily parity drives and assigned them correctly, everything seems to be in order and files intact. Now after all this will make copy of the FLASH. Hopefully this will not happen again. Thanks for all the help.

Ok, sorry about that. Intention was not to hijack anybody´s conversations, merely to gain advice on a same kind problem (not to start another thread on a same topic). I see that every user can have different kinds of issues which require different approach as mine. Will next time consider to start a new thread then. Thanks for the advice (very happy that the array is now up and running) and will take a look at the instructions tomorrow. Will post the results then. Thanks.

Ok, got the key right and now the array is registered....Can someone please advise with the next step. SO there is 10 disks and 2 parity drives, how to get that up and running. Thank you.

OK, got it. YEAAAHH the server is up and running again. OK, so that I don´t make it wrong, how is the registration key entered to system, as it is purchaced 2017 and the instructions are for UR6, and I did install UR7.xx.

So I´ve now worked about 3hrs with this drive. Unable to copy via Windows, CMD....even tried winimage to make a bootable drive to another FLASH and no result...every attempt will fail to an error or so. Windows cannot access or copy /config as data is not readable. and winimage cannot make bootable flashdrive as source data is corrupted and errors and so on. So I give up then. It seems that I need to make a new flash then ? I tried also CHKDSK and it cannot fix drive, chkdsk has now been running 1,5 hrs and no result. any suggestions, I´m willing to try to make a new drive, as I have spare drive in good condition ?

So far what I know from out memory (now going to work) I have dual parity 10 disks, I do know the parity drives....I hope disk 1 and 6 and no cache drives yet installed.I think what I can remember out of my head. Disks 2-5 are in use, other are assigned but no stuff in there yet. So no detailed description of the drive assignments. I will do the chkdsk to the drive when I get home is there some actions that the chkdsk should perform to the drive? ...now the main worry is that is the stuff in the array...is it gone?

I´m sorry to write this also. I could not get my array to start. I don´t know what is the matter now, as it has worked fine. And suddenly it wont start anymore. All is fine, parity, temperatures and so on, so I think that it must be the flash. I checked the flash and when trying to get to /config windows reports that the folder cannot be read that it might be corrupted. I went to CMD and found out that the whole folder is empty ! -Now what? I do have the email for the KEY...i hope, (yes I have, just checked), but as it happened, I didn´t know the backup function of this flash drive that it would be possible to do...so there is no backup. Some files are seen on the drive so all is not lost. So what are the steps next. I think that this is not a HW failure as disk spin up and so on. I can see that bios (supermicro) is accessible but I think that UR is not loading to server....so can someone nodge to right direction...what should be the next steps

This seems to be related to SMB1 settings on windows ? I searched like 4 hrs solution between windows updates and errors, until I discovered that this setting was disabled by default.. Now does anybody know how this array support SMB 2 or 3 ? or what helps to this problem as there was a writing that somehow this SMB1 setting is related to these ransom programs...or something When I enabled SMB1 again in windows, I was able to see my array under network group, so how to fix this...?

Hi, dunno if this is the right place for this question, but I´m out of options now. Windows has been particularly clear to see, what´s in my inner network. Also this means that when I powered up my array and log in, this has appeared to explorer under Network section. Now, nothing has changed in array, but OS (latest), and Windows has received couple of updates to patch up something. Now I noticed that after these updates, I cannot see my array under the network anymore. It does not show anywhere anymore. What should be done here to make it visible again under network...any ideas ?

Well Ok, I just misinterpreted that subject, intention was not to hijack a thread...sorry, you can delete all this.....I need to look into a documentation more specifically. If I need I´ll start a new post then...
