  1. Hi, I tried to install the FlexGet plugin (1.5.5 for unRaid 6) but it keeps failing with an MD5 check failure on 'get-pip.py'. I don't know much about how unRaid plugins work but I tried to update the MD5 number in the Plugin file but this still didn't fix it. Maybe I generated a wrong MD5 or there's something I misunderstand about how plugins install themselves. I managed to get around it by manually downloading 'get-pip.py' to the Packages directory on the flash drive and then remove the download from the Plugin file. This seems to have worked. Am I right in that the MD5 number in the Plugin file just needs to be updated? Cheers
  2. I've just received one of these from X-Case: http://www.xcase.co.uk/component-parts/storage-caddy/an-d35-trayless-hot-swap-cage-49-99-x-case.html No caddy in this one and it does have the backplane. Variable fan speed switch too. I was looking to replace my existing 5in3 hotswap for something without a caddy. I was sick of all the screwing/unscrewing every time I changed a disk. These look very nice. Aluminium outer case and the front doors to each bay are also Black Aluminium. Little bit pricey at £59.99 I suppose but also check out their other cages, there might be something you like there.
  3. Ah, that's a bit of a showstopper then. Good job it's coming from an Amazon trader, so should be pretty easy to pop back in the post and get a refund...once it arrives.
  4. Are you saying that you think this card will support 3tb and 4tb disks?
  5. I'm looking for something to replace an IBM M1015 (flashed to an LSL firmware) that for some reason started displaying thousands and thousands of read errors in the web interface whilst I was rebuilding another disk that I had replaced in the array. :o Scary business, as I thought that I might have possibly lost two drives. Whipped out the M1015 and replaced it with an old Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8, booted and everything was fine. Only had the M1015 for a couple of months. It may have been a cabling issue but there's no way I'm going to put it back in any server I have. It came from China, so whether I get a replacement is anyone's guess. Do I even want a replacement for it? I think I might give this SAS8208ELP a go and see what happens. I originally swapped out my AOC-SASLP-MV8 for the M1015 because I wanted to start using S3 standby and the AOC-SASLP_MV8 doesn't support it. Hmmmm, let's give it go... I'll post my results. Cheers Vin
  6. Hi, Did you ever find out if this is unRAID friendly and supports > 2tb disks? There's a seller on Amazon who are selling them for £42.99 which is a pretty decent price. The Amazon page suggests that it supports > 2TB. http://www.amazon.co.uk/PCI-E-MegaRAID-8208ELP-Port-Controller/dp/B00J96PSCG/ref=sr_1_127?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1395839472&sr=1-127&keywords=lsi#productDetails At that price it might even be worth a punt just to see if it works in unRAID. Cheers
  7. I've used an AOC-SASLP-MV8 for 18 months in a X7SPA-HF without a problem. But it doesn't support S3 sleep. So I've just swapped it out for an IBM M1015 (IT flashed). Depends if Sleep is important to you. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
  8. I have three older 1TB drives that came out of a QNAP that I used to run several years ago. I removed one from the array recently when it got red balled due to a write error. But I think there might also be another one of them in there that has several previous write errors from its QNAP days (myMain showed them in Red under SMART view). I'm running with an Atom board (Supermicro X7SPA-HF-D525) with an additional AOC-SAS-MV8 card - total 14 slots. I know I should look to replace them really. Hmmm I'm getting worried now. :-) Wouldn't hurt to replace them with a shiny new 2 or 3TBer :-)
  9. It seems pretty constant at around 40-50MB most of the time until later on in the check when it jumps up to over 100MB. Is that not normal? I think I might run another parity check and sample the speed throughout. I've only really casually checked it in the past.
  10. Any difference to parity check speed? I have a Seagate ST3000DM001 3TB as my Parity, another couple as Data along with a mixture of 2TB and 1TB WD and Hitachi drives, 13 in total including the Parity drive. I generally see a speed of about 40-50MB/s at the start of a parity check which then increases to about 105MB/s once it gets over 2TB. I presume this is because it only needs to access the other two Seagate 3TB drives at that point which are probably quicker than the SATA 2 WDEARS20 and 5K300's? I could be completely wrong of course but it sounds like a plausible explanation to me. Cheers Vin
  11. I've downgraded to Beta 14 so reset the clock and fingers crossed. If this doesn't work then I think it'll have to be beta 11 as originally suggested on the first page. It would be surprising if v5 went final with this issue still being outstanding and introduced only in Release Candidates. This card (AOC-SASLP-MV8) must be the most popular card in use with unRAID. Limetech - any news on the promised separate RC4 release with the alternate mvsas driver (5.0-rc4-scst-1)? Cheers
  12. I'm also getting this problem. I upgraded from 4.7 to 5.0-RC3 and everything freezes after about 3-6 days of up time except I can telnet in still and I have the same entries in my syslog as SuperW2. Does anyone know what the last beta version was that didn't have this issue? Is it Beta 11 or 12? Is the downgrading procedure the same as upgrading? Can I just copy bzimage and bzroot over what I already have? Cheers
  13. I know this is quite an old thread but... Now that I've got my unRAID Sever up and running next on my list is to get a UPnP server installed as I've got a couple of streaming devices around the house that I used to use with my old NAS and TwonkyMedia. How is everyone handling the shutdown of their unRAID server with MediaTomb already running? It sounds a bit scary that there's potential data loss if you try to initiate a Powerdown whilst MediaTomb is still being used. It seems a bit of a faff to have to login to do a killall mediatomb before powering the server down and something I'm sure I'd end up forgetting to do eventually. Could the killall comand be added to the start of the Powerdown script? Sorry if this sounds really obvious but I'm fairly new to Linux.
  14. Hmmm, OK, I awoke this morning to these results for the 5th cycle on my possibly dodgy WD20EARS: Not looking good. I think I'll start packing this one up and RMA it. No sense in carrying on with more preclears.
  15. Hi Joe, thanks for a really quick response. My Server is: Supermicro X7SPA-HF-D525 Crucial 2 x 2GB SODIMM PC3 - 10600 Nexus Prominent 9 Case 3 x XCase X-531 5-in-3 racks (Same as Norco SS-500) Corsair TX650 Power supply I've since addded a Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 card but the first three cycles were done without this card and the problem Disk was the only disk powered up in the case. The first three cycles were done before I added any Disks to the array. I'm now just running with 3 Disks in the array (1 Pariity 2 Data). I'm just waiting for a copy operation to complete before I can take the array down and copy over my shiny new unRAID Pro license file to the Thumb Drive. I'm not using any Molex splitters and all the the 5-in-3's are being powered directly from the Power supply connectors (two per 5-in-3). I've precleared 3 other Disks (1 x WD20EARS, 2 x Hitachi 5K3000) in the same setup without a problem, so I don't think it's the power or data cabling and I think the power supply should be plenty enough for what I currently have in the case, certainly for the small amount of Disks that I currently have powered in the machine (~5). I think I'll run a 5th cycle and see that happens, but if I want to RMA it to Scan rather than Western Digital then I'm getting close to the end of my 28 day return window. I'll post my results in another 32hrs.
