Sync unRaid Backup to Offsite Location

I have a massive unRaid server 30+TB and would like to sync it with another backup server offsite. The backup server is currently at my location and I have GoodSync synchronizing the live unRaid to the backup unRaid server. My question is, how do I continue to synchronize the data between the two server after I take the backup one offsite?

It seems to me that it is strongly discouraged to open up an unRaid server to the internet, but can I somehow sync the data via FTP or VPN? I am hoping to make this hands-free as possible.

Thank you for any thoughts and suggestions!

If you decide to go with BT sync, check out syncthing. It's basically the same, just open source. There is a docker available here via the templates.

Thank you for that suggestion! I guess I'm a little behind in versions as I haven't upgraded to version 6. Does syncthing run on unRAID 5? I guess my real question is, does it run without the docker (since the docker seems to be for unRAID 6). I guess I can upgrade, but I need to plan that out a bit more.

I just realized that I was looking into using BTSync. That is actually not correct. I am looking to use BitTorrent Sync. For some reason I thought that they were the same. Perhaps it is because http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=33341.0 says BTSync, but once it is installed, the BitTorrentSync gui shows up. It is my understanding the BitTorrent Sync is open source as well (and BTSync is a paid service). Is that correct?

BitTorrent Sync is not open source. While it has been call BTSync,  BitTorrent Sync is not the same as BTSync. http://www.getsync.com/

BitTorrent Sync is a device to device sync (peer to peer) application, no middle man, or "cloud" storage.

BTSync is a service, not affiliated with BitTorrent, but using BitTorrent. (Yeah, not very clear naming choices). Basically, BTSync is a hosting service for BitTorrent Sync devices/servers. https://www.btsync.com/

BTSync is a device on someone else's infrastructure (cloud) to sync your data.

syncthing is the open source, "does that same thing", project. Now re-branded as Pulse. https://ind.ie/pulse/
