  1. This is most of the 12th, but I think it was after a reboot, so I'm not sure it has the relevant information. It's the oldest I have at this point. On my cache drive was a temp folder. I'm not even sure what was on it. It got put on the cache drive before moving to the main array. Thank you so much for sticking with this and trying to help me out! just12small.zip
  2. The diagnostics zip file is too large to post. The oldest zip file only goes back to the 12th, but even just zipping that file, it is larger than the forum would allow. There must have been a reboot at that point.
  3. It's 1 TB. I don't remember how long. Would there be something in the syslog if it cleared it?
  4. So I went through this process: [*]Stop Array [*]Change filesystem type [*]run check per instuctions Riser and xfs it couldn't find the right superblock, for btrfs it wouldn't even let me scrub. Is there anything else I can try?
  5. I tried all three types and it still says unmountable. Would there be a way to mount it from the command prompt?
  6. Originally it was a Parity drive (sdd), Disk 1 (sdb), Disk 2 (sdc) and the cache drive (sde) I believe it did take a while before it showed unformated. Does that mean Unraid cleared it? I did not format or preclear the drive.
  7. I needed more space so I was going to move the cache drive as part of my main array. I stopped the array and was going to move it from cache to the array. Then I realized there is still some data on there that I forgot to move. Unraid is saying it is unmounted and wants me to format it. I have *not* formatted it yet. Is there a way to get at the data on there?
  8. I've had to add/remove drives a few times and it is always a pain. I want to upgrade my case to something that would make drive management easier. My current contenders: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Fractal Design Define R5 HAF 922 Anyone have any experience with these cases? I'm open to other suggestions, would like to stay under $120 if possible. I currently have 4 drives in my current rig. At some piont, I'll probably expand to 5 or 6. Thanks in advance!!
  9. Main Goal: I have my main Windows 8.1 machine and I would like c:\Users backed up to my unraid box Secondary Goal: Full C:\ backed up to unraid box Thrid Goal: In addition to 1 and 2, I'd like those same things for a secondary Windows 7 machine Right now I'm testing out CrashPlan. I have CrashPlan running on the Windows 7 machine, with a share for the user folder on the Windows 8.1 machine and a share on unraid. I started that a few nights ago but haven't done much in configuring, testing or tweaking. Is this a good way to do things? Other thoughts on CrashPlan? I know it is part of the unraid community programs with Docker, but I haven't messed with any of the docker apps or anything like that. How does that work? A few people at work have mentioned StorageProtect, but I don't know much about it. Is it worth the $99 and would it do the things I want to? Any opinions of that vs. CrashPlan?
  10. I was making some changes to my case and have left the sides off. Recently I looked at unraid and noticed it was reporting the harddrives at 100 F. I had never really paid attention to the temperature reading before. Is that a normal temperature? Am I doing unnecessary wear on them getting that hot with the sides off?
  11. I just replaced a parity drive with a larger drive. It did a parity sync. I had never heard of that before. I read in the wiki that you should a parity check after the sync, so i'm doing that now. But what exactly is the difference between a parity sync and a parity check?
  12. A little postscript for those who are curious..... I got a 3 TB WD Red drive. I ran the preclear script on it with a count of 3, came back no errors. I used this new drive to replace my existing parity drive. Going to do a preclear on the drive that was the old parity drive, and then make that the cache drive.
  13. I've accumulated a little over $100 in Amazon gift cards. So while newegg is cheaper, Amazon is "free" I'm currently using 1.25 TB of my 2 TB. Obviously more space is always a good thing, but I think I just need 1 TB more. (for now!). It doesn't have to be 1 TB, but probably at least 350/500 GB. Once a month I do a full system backup, and that's a little over 300 GB. You and garycase make some good points though. So I may just get a 3 or 4 TB now, and make that the new parity disk. Then at some point when I can get another drive, replace one of the 1 GB, and make the other 1 GB a cache drive. While I love the idea of an SSD for the cache drive, that may not happen until the prices come down more. I'm on 6.0-rc6, I've kept that in the back of my mind that I'll need to get Basic key. But thanks for a reminder! Basically this is all a balancing act of what I can afford, what I need now, and what I will need in the future.
  14. I was hoping to spend no more than $100 on the drive. But if 4 TB are a good value and work well with unRAID, then that is certainly worth a consideration.
