  1. For now just 3. I don't see myself ever having 9 drives.. But you never know.
  2. Thanks for all of your advice. I've also been asking around at other places and i think maybe this build is better (I really don't know what I'm doing here, if it isn't obvious yet). mobo - biostar A880G+ ($59.99) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138283 CPU - AMD Sempron 145 ($39.99) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103888 RAM - Rendition by Crucial 2GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148352 case - rosewill R101-P-BK http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147112 and then some PSU that is apparently not cheaped out How does this build compare to my other (again, with some PSU that is not as cheap)? Are all components compatible and would this suit my needs?
  3. Awesome. Thanks for all of your advice, you've been very helpful. Will that build work?
  4. Why choose such an expensive psu? I looked at the greenleaf tech website and it looks like the 3-9 drive prototypes seem more suited for me (as I never plan to exceed that). So, looking at that, I came up with this (the mobo, CPU, and case are the same as in the prototype build). mobo - Zotac GF6100 ($49.99) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813500045 cpu AMD Sempron 145 Sargas ($39.99) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103888 ram - Team 2gb DDR2 ($23.99) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313077 psu - LOGISYS 480 W ($13.99) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817170014 case - rosewill r101-p-bk ($29.99) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147112 the 3 drive prototype also says the harddrives should be green drives with 5400 or 5900 rpm. is this required for this build?
  5. How is this build? I'm trying to get this as cheap as possible as this setup is mostly form convenience for me and I don't have a lot of data to store. mobo - ASRock A785GM-LE Micro http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157274 cpu - AMD Sempron LE-1250 single core http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113001 ram - 2x1gb ddr2 g.skill http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231108 psu - LOGISYS 480W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817170014 case - rosewill r101-p-bk http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147112 I think all of these parts are compatible with eachother, but I'm not sure this will suit my needs.
  6. Is that compatible with the other parts an unraid? I don't see it on the compatibility list (http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Hardware_Compatibility). Also, would sabnzbd, sick beard, xbmc, etc work with this?
  7. Hello, I'm looking to build a NAS. I do not require much storage (right now I have only about 2TB, but would like to have the option to store more than that for the future). I want it to be compatible with xbmc, sick beard, sabnzbd, etc. I would also like the NAS to be cheap ($250 or less would be ideal). The main reasons I want a NAS is to be able to access my media through my network. After some research, I think I have decided unraid is the best solution for me. I was going to go to frys today and ask the people there for help picking out the parts for this but decided I would look online for some recommended builds. I know little about computer components but did build my own HTPC. I am really not comfortable choosing the parts myself as I know I am really not qualified. What I'm really looking for is for someone else to just tell me what to get. I think that the budge unraid build (http://unraid.me/buy/) looks good and in the right price range for me (since I don't have a lot of data, I don't want to spend a lot of money). However, I have not been able to find that mobo. My questions, then, are: 1. What other mobo is compatible with the other components and also unraid 2. Will this build do what I am looking for Thanks!
