  1. Hi all, I am currently having an issue with my Parity drive continuously showing up with a red ball, and having millions and millions of writes to it. I have tried to rebuild the parity, and it works fine for a few days, and then dies again. I am not sure what the problem is, as I don't believe that we had any power outages in the mean time. I know that the rest of the forums basically say that I need to swap out the parity drive, however if this is avoidable, I would like to keep it that way. Unraid keeps telling me that my array is not protected, although I am still able to get to all of the data on the other drives, and everything seems to just work, apart from this drive. When I try to run a smart test, I get "The /boot/smarthistory/smarthistory.php file does not exist." and I am not sure what to do about it. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? If you do, please PM me. Regards Alistair
  2. Hi all, Is there a way in the next release of unraid, that unmenu comes as a package already on the OS, with the go script adapted? I know that this seems a silly thing, but for noobs like some (me), it would be very useful to be able to install packages with the webui, than having to do it through telnet. I have attempted to install unmenu, however it fails every time. Regards
  3. Hey all, I couldn't find this anywhere else in the forum (maybe I had a man look...) . I have come across an issue, where one of my disks has failed, and I have replaced the drive, and rebuilt the data form the parity. That is all well and good until I rebooted the unraid and it still thinks the new drive I have put in is missing. I am not sure if I should do an initconfig, or if that will screw anything up. It will still read from the drive it says is missing, and I have copied everything off it to the other drives, so I can actually just remove it altogether and put the drive into a new slot on the array. I am a bit weary with the unraid as it has been temperamental with me in the past, and I don't want to screw it all up and lose all of my data. Now that I have copied all of the data to the other disks, I was going to do another parity sync, however it will not allow me in the webgui, as quite rightly so, it sais a disk is missing and the parity sync option is not there. Do you guys have any suggestions? I am not sure if I can just try swapping the ports on the motherboard, but that will mean that the drive is still missing (as it is port specific I believe) and it will still shit itself. I have taken disk four (the one with the issues) out of the array, and started the array so it is going, but the parity is not right. Any help would be much appreciated. If you want a screenshot or something PM me. Thanks all
  4. Hey all, I keep getting a very slow parity sync, and it keeps stalling. I am getting sync at 720 kb/s or something like that. I am not sure what the problem is, however I have followed the other post like changing the sata port and the sata cable however now it just says that it is missing both of the drives. I am so confused, and am thinking I might just take all of the data drives, and plug them into my windows pc, and then start again and copy all of the info back onto the raid one drive at a time. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks AC
  5. hey all, I am a n00b at all of this, and have no idea what i am doing. I am trying to set up something that will search for duplicate files, and then automatically delete them if they have the same file name and size. Is there such a thing? I have had a look round the forums and there are a couple of long strings of commands that I have tried to input into a telnet connection that I have made with the unraid server. Is there anything that anyone can suggest, e.g. a program I can run that will search for duplicate files and delete them over the network? Thanks in advance.
