dave
Hi everyone, I'm looking for recommendations on what version of ESXi to upgrade my server to. I am currently running 5.0 but the auto-start VM bug has been causing me grief lately (mainly because I am planning to use a Windows VM to manage ESXi). Do you guys have a preferred version that I should look to install? In other words, should I go straight to 5.5 or are there any known issues? Thanks! Dave Quote Link to comment
dave
After some searching it appears that several users are reporting 5.1 and 5.5 both working great with their systems. I also came across a VMware blog post talking about the auto-start VM bug and that it has been patched. I am currently downloading the patch and will apply it this evening instead of upgrading the entire system. I have no other issues with 5.0 so this seems like the path of least resistance. garycase
Sounds like the best approach. There are several reports of issues with v5.5 => I'm not using ESXi at the moment, but if I was I'd avoid v5.5 based on those reports. Quote Link to comment
dave
Quick follow-up: I was able to apply the "autostart" patch to my server and all is well now. Quote Link to comment
