  1. From Techbargains.com Ebay (via Newegg) has the Seagate Expansion 5TB USB 3.0 External Desktop Hard Drive (STBV3000100) for a low $159.99 Free Shipping. Tax in CA, NJ, TN, IN. This is $40 less than elsewhere and the lowest price we've seen for a 5TB External. This breaks down to about 3.2cents/GB.
  2. Sold through Ebay by Newegg. I'm not sure what drive is inside the enclosure. This is the cheapest 4TB drive I've seen. Also some low prices on the smaller drives at the bottom of the TechBargains link. http://www.techbargains.com/samsung-d3-station-deals?source=newsletter&subsource=1892 eBay (via Newegg) has the Samsung D3 Station STSHX-D401TDB 4TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive for a low $119.99 Free Shipping. Tax in CA, IN, NJ, TN. This drive sells for $140+ elsewhere and quite possibly the lowest price we've ever seen for a 4TB hard drive. Features fast data transfer speeds with the USB 3.0 interface by connecting to a USB 3.0 port. USB 3.0 is also backwards compatible with USB 2.0 (although you will have USB 2.0 speeds).
  3. Upgrade for the win! Thanks for the quick responses.
  4. Is it possible to move the drive array to a new motherboard? My current system is running 4.7 and is spread out into several external enclosures. Before I do the upgrade to 5.0, I'd like to consolidate all of the drives into one enclosure with a new motherboard. What steps are involved to ensure my data remains intact? Thanks edit: After finding a search term that came back with some useful information, I see that it should be doable. I would just need to capture a screenshot showing the current assignment of all the drives and make sure that each drive is reassigned to it's original slot. What order would probably be best? Do the move to new motherboard first, or do the 5.0 upgrade first?
  5. Here's the link. http://www.staples.com/Seagate-Expansion-3TB-Desktop-USB-30-External-Hard-Drive-Black/product_895616?PID=227502&storeId=10001&AID=10422268&SID=F012NL122072C339897C0A99339897C52A10A0A0&cm_mmc=CJ-_-227502-_-227502-_-10422268&CID=AFF%253A227502%253A227502%253A10422268
  6. I can't seem to get cache_dirs to load from my go script when unraid is started and I can't figure out why. The start command is added to my go script right between the start of the emhttp start and the start up of unmenu. I can see these two start up in the syslog, but no sign of cache_dirs until I start it manually. What could I be missing? This is normally not a problem. The server doesn't get stopped very often. But now that Irene has blown through and the local electric utility seems to go offline with a stiff breeze, the server has been going up and down quite a bit and it's starting to become a pain. Thanks, Fred
  7. Nice sale. Don't buy the HP V165w drive. I bought two of these in the 4 GB size to use as my Unraid system drives but they don't have unique serial numbers. They're small and fast, but unusable for Unraid. igboo
