  1. I actually am having the same issue. I tried moving some files from one disk to another and the transfer acted like it lost network connectivity. I gave it a few, but the webGUI and the server itself were totally unresponsive. I hard-booted the machine, restarted and logged in without issue. I still have no webGUI and the array seems to be totally offline as I can only see the flash on the network. Edit: Gave it a few minutes more and it seems to be back up and running. I attached my syslog for anyone willing to take a peek. syslog.txt
  2. Yeah, see that is the problem I ran into before. I have set a minimum and it just seems to ignore it and copy right through it. I know the split level is okay because some of the files are indeed spread over the other two physical disks, but now that it's gotten so that doesn't make much of a difference.
  3. So any thoughts on possibly killing the parity, moving the data from disk1 to disk2/3 and then re-building parity to create a "High-water" environment and then hope unRAID maintains it? My only concern is that this will happen all over again. Maybe something in the settings is just plain wrong? Everything is set to high-water. Two of my shares have an excluded/included disk for backups my wife and I have. Other than that, split level 1 and no other settings across all five other shares. Thoughts?
  4. Worked like a charm. All three disks are showing properly and with data on all three. I am currently rebuilding parity to make sure everything is going okay. Update: Parity has been rebuilt but I am having the same storage issues as the first time around so I am going to run '/du -m /mnt/*' and see what kind of information I can pull from it. After the scan was done of /mnt/, everything is showing up properly so now I am going to try and exclude the disks again and see if there is a way I can get unRAID to force write to one of the non-full disks in the partition. If not, I am really not sure how I am going to go forward with this.
  5. Ugh, okay so I am not entirely sure where to go from here. I tried restoring an older backup I had of the flash drive, but it didn't recognize my Plus key and, therefore, did not recognize my third disk. So I shut it down again and reloaded the backup I'd just made before I started this process. Now, after booting back up and into the web interface, none of the drives or shares are mounting so it's worse off than before I started the process -- More confused now than ever. Edit: I reverted back to my older backup and the shares and drives are being loaded properly. The only issue I have is that the key isn't being recognized so I am left with Basic (and only two out of my three drives). Final Edit: Okay, so I cleared the Plus.key and hidden _Plus.key file out of the config folder and replace them with the one that was originally mailed to us. I rebooted the server and, low and behold, I have a Plus license again. New problem: I go to add the third disk to the array and it gives me this message: My first instinct would be to reset the array and rebuild the parity so I could maintain the data that was on disk3, but I am done with assuming anything tonight. If anyone has some advice on what to do here I would appreciate it
  6. Well, that revealed some goodies... disk1 was the disk that was getting full. du -m /mnt/* spat this out: du: cannot access '/mnt/disk2': No such file or directory du: cannot access '/mnt/disk3': No such file or directory root@jeeves # /etc/rc.d/rc.samba: line 15: /boot/config/ident.cfg: No such file or directory /etc/rc.d/rc.samba: line 18: /boot/config/share.cfg: No such file or directory
  7. Hello everyone, I have been running unRAID 4.6 for a little over a year now with the following configuration: Samsung F3 2TB - Parity WD EARS 2TB - Data1 WD EARS 2TB - Data2 WD EADS 1TB - Data3 I have seven shares setup on the array and, up until recently, have not had any issues with space. Over the last week, we've made a final push to backup some of our media and we've run into a problem that I cannot seem to find an answer to. The share continually attempts to copy to a disk with only 3GB free. No matter what Allocation Method I use, I run into "this drive is full" issues when I copy to the share (and therefore, the drive). I have tried setting a minimum free space and I have tried forcing the disk that is full onto the excluded list. I'm wondering if there is anything I may be missing or if there is a way around this problem.
  8. 1. I am also running a Sempron 140 and have had nothing but good performance with it. I haven't noticed in issues with streaming or anything. 2. I would really recommend gigabit LAN if you want to use it as a media server. Your hard drives should be the bottleneck in this type of a setup so don't give your network an excuse to come in and slow things down. 3. I run all green drives and they are perfectly fine for 24/7; I actually prefer them because they run much cooler, quieter and are a bit friendlier on power. 4. PCIe if you can; the added bandwidth is nice when you have something as large as an 8-port card plugged in 6. I am not sure where you are from, but NCIX ships to Canada and US and they carry Fractal Design cases. Fractal Design also has a good list of distributors on their company site (http://www.fractal-design.com/?view=buy&category=)
  9. I too, like a few other people on this thread, bought an HD204UI without looking at the forums. I upgraded the firmware before putting it into the array so that I would hopefully avoid any problems. I actually have mine running as the parity drive and can see similar performance compared to what everyone normally reports from an un-Cached unRAID setup. I have seen no signs of corruption and the drive itself works just fine with every form of data I've thrown at it (small and large).
  10. I actually don't have that option anywhere that I can find; that was the main reason I figured that I would need a BIOS update. Either way: Thank you both for replying!
  11. Alright, not to double-post, but we solved the problem. It looks like the motherboard has a bug (that there might even be a BIOS upgrade for, I'm not sure). Basically, if you cannot get it to boot from USB, just mash F8 on startup and make sure it is set in the boot menu. I kept going to the boot menu in BIOS, but that wasn't quite enough for it to recognize the USB stick as the primary boot method.
  12. Sorry, forgot to mention that in my initial post, but we made sure that it was the primary (only, actually) boot device. Thank you for the quick response, though!
  13. First, a bit of background: I am running unRAID 4.6 final on a SanDisk Cruzer 4GB USB Drive formatted in FAT32. I am using an Asus M4A78LT-M as my motherboard. Now, my wife and I decided we were going to upgrade from the Basic version of unRAID to the Plus version today. We went in, followed the instructions on the e-mail and got the key entered just fine. We go to reboot the server and it gives me a big 'ol "Reboot and Select proper Boot device of Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key" message. Now, this was the first reboot we'd done in about two months and everything had been fine up until that point. To troubleshoot, we tried switching USB ports on the motherboard. We tried adjusting the BIOS and checking the boot configuration. We tried removing the key entry from the config folder. We tried reformatting the flash drive in both FAT and FAT32 with a clean install of 4.6 and a backup of our original image (with config files). We are absolutely baffled as to what is going on so here I am to ask for some advice as to which direction to head in. Thank you in advance!
  14. Thank you both for the replies. I went ahead and swapped my 2x2GB sticks for a single 4GB stick. I figured I'd run a preclear for kicks to see if it would get past the points I was at before and so far it has already been running for twice as long as before so swapping the memory has certainly helped so far
  15. Hello everyone. I recently finished the hardware side of my first unRAID build and I ran into a major problem during the preclearing of my first two disks. I have tried running remotely through Telnet/Screen and also through the console on the server itself, but randomly during the first 30min of preclearing, my screen will suddenly become very garbled. It's worth noting that this also effectively kills all processes on the server and it requires a hard re-boot. Here is a link to that screen capture: http://img227.imageshack.us/i/photowco.jpg/ The two drives in question are a Samsung Spinpoint F4 (with latest firmware patch) and a WD 2TB EARS drive. They are running on an Asus M4A78LT-M motherboard with an AMD Sempron 140 processor (gogo budget builds!). I am giving it one more go while I get some sleep and I will post any syslogs I can find in the morning, but for now I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Thank you for your help!
