BJ Skittles
I have built a Nas server installed on H270M-ITX/ac Motherboard with I3 7100 Kaby Lake 16GB Memory. Running Unraid Server Version 6.3.2 I have tried to join to my Windows 2008 R2 active Directory with no luck. I have googled multiple answers people have tried and still no luck. Below is what I tried. 1. Once the unRAID is installed and attached properly, type //Tower in your web browser and the unRAID menu will pop up. 2. Set up the identification server name, network static IP, and time in the settings page. 3. Install the unRAID key by putting it on the USB port via \1. Use the IP address at this point because the machine is not rebooted yet for the new server identification to work properly. 4. Now that the key is installed you need to reboot the device by clicking the reboot button. 5. In the settings tab you need to change the security to Active Directory and input your FQDN not NETBIOS and an administrator name with access to add machines to the network. 6. Clicking the join button does not work at this point. Add another file to the flash drive and point the file where the Active Directory realm is. 7. Add the file smb-extra.conf to the \192.168.2.1flashconfig 8. Edit the smb-extra.conf file to add the lines realm = FQDN and workgroup = NETBIOS 9. Now hit the join again, it works. .1flashconfig. On the server is shows "chown: invalid user: 'Adminstrator:Domain Users'" The only problem with these directions is it doesnt work, does anyone have anything to add that can help me? Matt_G
Instead of using an account with domain admin rights, try using the LOCAL admin account of your domain controller to do the join. I couldn't join my domain until I used that local account. HTH Matt Quote Link to comment
