I had to reclaim my Plex server using a new Claim token after my password reset. I am using the official docker.

This fixed my issue that was plaguing me as well. I just didn't have it personally as I tend to use Plex for Kodi, so it handles all the playback.

The user name fields do not allow underscores, is this by design?

I remember back when XFS and BTRFS were added that BTRFS had a few issues, is this still the case? I ask because I've been trying out a RAID10 setup using 4 1TB sk Hynix SATA SSDS and I've had at least four or five issues that required hard shutdowns (GUI/console wouldn't shutdown), or just general corruption of the pool. Previously when using a SATA or SAS SSD using XFS I had uptime over 60 days without issues many times. When these issues arise, I can't open the logger, or download a diagnostics file.

I run a SuperMicro X9DR3-F because I wanted to run multiple HTPC VMs with it now, and in the future. I'm currently only running one though. It was one of the few boards with plenty of x16 slots though. So that was the primary reason I picked it. Plus the SAS and SATA ports helped me cut down on addon cards so I only run one extra controller card instead of the three I had to run before.

Well, as far as Plex goes, that CPU should be okay for 2-3 transcoded streams. Without more than one drive you won't see all the benefits of unRAID (parity protection) Without VT-d you won't get GPU passthrough which is what is really needed for good gaming performance. So this should probably just be a normal desktop build instead of unRAID.

The way you pos That's how I have mine setup, my single core/two thread VMs run just fine this way... at least as long as I have the correct core/threads assigned as the PCIe lane as the GPU.

Using an RPi3 is pretty easy, once you have an image up and running it is like a mini computer. Gaming over RDP is not a good idea. I think they have video worked out to be reasonable, but not low latency response time.

Single player and you never play content remotely? Check out Kodi, or some variant, if you want light weight and only to use Kodi I like LibreELEC over Kodibuntu for it's appliance like installation/configuration. If you want to keep it on Windows, then it works fine. If you want to play content from outside your network, check out Plex or Emby, they use server/client methods and both have dedicated apps on many platforms. Both are free to try and have clients available on many platforms. I used Kodi back when it was XBMC 8 or 9 (now it's 17?)... I eventually migrated to a centralized MySQL setup as I didn't want to do the metadata management from my couch anymore, and added a second client, eventually a third one. I recently tried out both Emby and Plex, I liked Emby's metadata and movie set handling more than Plex. However, the majority of my friends use Plex so I ended up going with that. I used to take the files I wanted to watch with me on the road (I travel a lot) on a USB drive/microSD and still take some with me, but now mostly use Plex streaming or syncing to do the same task.

Your CPU only has a Passmark score of 10K, which according to Plex you should be maxing out at around 5 transcode streams... I'm guessing you have a lot of your stuff either optimized or is under the 4 Mbp/s threshold so it just direct streams. You will likely need a dual CPU build to support that many users. If the reads are all from different drives you won't have any issues as unRAID doesn't stripe data across drives, the real limiting factors are individual drive performance and controller bottle neck. I haven't run into any issues yet with merely three streams (two transcoded, one local stream). I will note that I didn't check to see if everything was on the same drive, but it was all movies.

If it is anime, there are anidb has a CRC checking tool that works well enough. I used it when I had a RAID5 issue that was caused by a bad disk that the controller/software didn't explicitly report as bad was giving me trouble.

I use dual parity on my primary server, (20+ array drives) and only single parity on my back up server (3 array drives).

I was going to buy new, hadn't even considered ebay. Should I be? I got four E5-2670v1 for about $70 each. So yeah... huge savings to be had.

Get the one with HT, it only complicates VMs in the sense that you need to pair physical core with HT cores for best performance. Also... are you really buying new instead of an eBay server pull for a fraction of the price?
