Suggestion - Make a video player page for video type files?
(1/1)
liujason:
With the <video> tag in HTML5, it would be very useful to have a video player page for tablet devices like BlackBerry PlayBook to stream videos directly from the webGUI.
Thanks,
Jason

Not to sound insensitive but... no
liujason:
Why not? I have a PlayBook that can connect to TV via HDMI, and supports <video> html5 tag. The Unraid already supports downloading media to the PlayBook when clicked on the link. It would make perfect sense to have a <video> wrapper for the resource to allow HTML5 supporting devices to watch videos directly from the webGUI.
If you can point me to some information of how to modify the webGUI (5.0), i can likely look into that myself.
Thanks,
Jason

I guess mostly personal preference... but having that built into the unRAID webGUI starts to bloat it in my opinion. If someone wants to make a plugin page to do it that would be fine by me, but I would not want to see this as part of the web GUI. The whole point of the GUI is to manage the unRAID machine, install addons, and perhaps glance at it for a status update.

This surely would be quite easy to accomplish. Unfortunately the HTML solution wouldn't be flexible enough for the various types of files you may have (MKV containers etc), but certain flash players support almost everything.
I'll have a search around at some point, there must be an open source project around this idea.
