SSI compliant PSU?

The manual of the X9SCM motherboard states that it needs a SSI-compliant PSU.

What exactly makes a PSU SSI-compliant? Specs, number of 12V motherboard connectors?

Didn't know about these PSU standards, rather confusing. Still Corsair causes confusion too. Are the CX-series EPS12V compliant? Newegg says no, but when I read the manual of the CX-series it says:

The EPS12V power connector has a detachable 4-pin mechanism in order to

support either an 8-pin socket or a 4-pin “P4/12V” socket on the motherboard.

and

Connect the 8-pin +12V (EPS12V) cable.

a. If your motherboard has an 8-pin +12V socket, connect the 8-pin

cable directly to your motherboard.

b. If your motherboard has a 4-pin socket, detach the 4-pin from

the 8-pin cable, and then plug this 4-pin cable directly to

your motherboard.

Confusing.
