settings
Hey Guys, I have been having a recurring problem with the web interface since I left 4.7. Everything works perfectly after a reboot but some time later the WebUi to tower/Main stop working. I can access everything else as normal : unmenu, shares, telnet etc just not the main. I generally access it by IP address: http://192.168.1.150/Main I have tried all the recommended variations suggested in other threads but to no avail. I also cannot access the tower main through Unmenu. The connection times out and gives a "the connection was reset" message in firefox. I was certain the problem was fixed after I moved from a beta 11 to the latest RC candidate but after a reboot just yesterday I can't access unmenu main - usually it would take a few weeks before it stopped working. Anyways here is my syslog if anyone would mind having a look http://pastebin.com/HQ065YzX In another thread I read it maybe a RAM problem so i stopped cache dirs to try it then. I got 3bg ram and all i am using is SAB, sickbeard, slimserver, the printserver, cache_dirs just noticed this pop up on my unmenu: Aug 6 15:33:19 Tower emhttp: unRAID System Management Utility version 5.0-rc5 Aug 6 15:33:19 Tower emhttp: Copyright (C) 2005-2012, Lime Technology, LLC Aug 6 15:33:19 Tower emhttp: Pro key detected, GUID: **** Aug 6 15:33:19 Tower emhttp: rdevName.22 not found Aug 6 15:33:19 Tower emhttp: diskFsStatus.1 not found Aug 6 15:33:19 Tower kernel: emhttp[6325]: segfault at 0 ip b747d760 sp bfb1e770 error 4 in libc-2.11.1.so[b7404000+15c000] root@Tower:~# ps -ef UID PID PPID C STIME TTY TIME CMD root 1 0 0 Aug05 ? dgaschk
One of the add-ons may be incompatible in it's current configuration. Quote Link to comment
settings
thanks for the reply dgaschk, I am just using Sabnzbd, sickbeard, the simple printer service and cache dirs as unmenu packages. I am using slimserver plg but i think i had the problem even before I tried that. I did a fresh install of sickbeard last night since the last version wouldnt update correctly and i downloaded the .conf from the thread prostuff has but i had to change the md5 checksum in the .conf since it didnt match according to unmenu. Its working great now i dont know what else it could be. I would love to find the source of this problem because apart from this I am really happy with the setup since going to pro Quote Link to comment
Joe L. Anything else please let me know and thanks a million for help On earlier releases it was possible to restart emhttp. On the current 5.0 beta/rc releases, it is NOT possible without it failing with a segment violation. Tom @ lime-tech says it was not designed to be re-started, so he does not consider it a bug. (but personally, I do, as emhttp is occasionally killed by the kernel oom process, and there is a need to be able to restart it) Joe L. Quote Link to comment
settings
Thanks for the input JoeL. What I did was stop the array in unmenu and then just hold the power off button on the server (after closing sab etc/killing slimserver etc). The tower/main is back up and running now but I'm not sure what the source of my problem is. Thinking about what dgaschk said the only changes that i made recently was upgrading sickbeard using the conf file and I also disabled checking for software updates on slimserver just now which Im sure had probably nothing to do with it (i had them disabled before and i did a fresh install when i got my new cache). Everything is working perfectly now but im worried it may stop working in the future. Thanks Quote Link to comment
darkside40
Right now i have the same problem with emhttp, i simply cannot restart it. Good that i have unmenu installed, so i can do a clean reboot. By the way would it be possible in any way to configure the push of the on/off button of the PC so it calls the same script like e.g. unmenu does for a clean shutdown or reboot? Quote Link to comment

I'm talking out of my butt here, because I haven't personally tried it, but I seem to remember certain builds have that capability baked in without reconfiguring anything. The "Clean Powerdown" addon for unmenu adds that capability if the particular stock unraid setup lacks it, as long as the power button calls the appropriate ACPI function. Quote Link to comment

The answer is yes, it can be done, but unless YOU install an add-on for the clean powerdown through unMENU (or do the equivalent) the power button may not work when you want. (as by default, it invokes emhttp, and if emhttp is not running, the power button will do absolutely nothing. (unless held down for 10seconds or so to force a non-clean power off)) Start reading here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=6078.0 Quote Link to comment
