Help Help with New 10 drive unRAID Build

What is your budget? the Mobo/cpu/ram should be less then 500 combined.

How many drives do you want your server to be able to support and how much capacity do you need? I would like to have about 10 drives eventually, and i would start off with 8-10 terabytes then get larger.

Is expandability important to you?  If so, what's your long term goal? yes, i would like to be able to hold 10 drives.

Are you interested in running any unRAID Add Ons (see here)?  If so, which ones?  Be specific. Not really, Maybe the firefox one just to keep an eye on the drive status and health.

Do you want to run green/low power drives or faster 7200 rpm drives?  If you don't have a specific need for 7200 rpm drives, then choose green drives. I will only be using WD 2TB Black Cavior Drives, I don't like WD greens since i have had them fail on me before.

Do you have any spare parts laying around that you would like to apply towards your build?  This includes drives. I have a few 2TB WD Blacks

If you already have parts in mind, please oh pretty please post links to them so that we don't have to look them up.

My current use of the unRAID box will be to stream my HTPC/XBMC machine, and for me to add the shared drives to any of my 2-3 other windows machine. There will only 1-2 people MAX reading from the server at any time. I will start off with 5 2TB WD blacks, which i beleive will give me 8TB of Storage. Please let me know if this machine is poweful enough so that i can just keep adding drives in the future and if you see any hardware that is problematic, i will be getting the PRO lisence

I have built two servers with the same case.  All the fans are pretty quiet, so I'd look at your cpu cooler or PSU first for the source of the sound.  Just make sure none of the fans are hitting anything.

Thanks, i found the problem, I had one of the fans that got separately on high which was at the bottom of the front case, I dropped it to low and poof noise is gone!

So after finally moving over like 4-5 TB of data, takes forever using a 300GB raptor as the cache drive.

Original Build

Drives were relatively hot, wasn't sure if it was just the massive amounts of writes i was making it do or just normal so i used a cheap fan to keep them cool

after the transfer, a quick solution and the drives are running pretty good
