[SOLVED] ATA Error Count and UDMA CRC Error count are at 4

Recommended Posts

The last error occurred almost 3000 hours ago. This drive is fine unless there are additional symptoms.

CRC errors are those detected in communicating with the disk over the SATA cable.    To fix those (if constantly occurring) you would need to replace the SATA cable, or re-seat it so it makes good contact,  or, as likely re-route it so it does not pick up noise from other nearby cables.

CRC errors are not usually the disk itself, but noisy communications with it.  Have you neatly tie-wrapped all the SATA cables, if so, bad idea... looks great, but if not shielded cables, they can induce noise in one another.

The solution is to not let them be bundled tightly with other cables.
