lefos Posted March 3, 2013 Share Posted March 3, 2013 I am having an issue with my unraid webgui. I am using the latest RC11 build. I have tried reformatting my flash drive however after I click on like 5 pages in the settings tab of simplefeatures it just crashes. Google Chrome gives me Error 7 (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out. Is this a common issue/is there any fix? I can still get to all of my applications(Sab/Sick/Couch/Plex) and I can telnet into the box, I just can't get to the webgui. Quote Link to comment

Post this problem in the SimpleFeatures thread. Quote Link to comment
lefos Posted March 3, 2013 Author Share Posted March 3, 2013 Is there an easy way to remove SF webgui? When i booted the flash drive for the first time with no plugins at all unraid was showing me errors in the console about simplefeatures plugin file not found Quote Link to comment
Helmonder Posted March 4, 2013 Share Posted March 4, 2013 Remove the plg files, reboot and then refresh your browser cache. Quote Link to comment
lefos Posted March 4, 2013 Author Share Posted March 4, 2013 I will give that a try. Any idea why a clean boot of 5rc11 was giving my monitor(like VGA monitor hooked up to the box) errors looking for the simplefeatures plg files on first boot(and gave file not found errors) with no plugins folder on the flash drive? This is more of a side question, I will post back results tomorrow when the gui freezes again Quote Link to comment
Helmonder Posted March 4, 2013 Share Posted March 4, 2013 For some reasons the boot was not fully "clean", if it was there would have been no reference to simplefeatures. Basically on every boot the linux system is re-installed on a RAM drive and every plugin is freshly installed, part of the install is downloading softwarepackages, if these are downloaded they are stored on your flashdrive so they will not have to be downloaded every time. They are however not used at all untill a plugin asks for them... So without *.PLG files the system runs "stock and clean". Note: It is also possible to make modifications or install stuff using the GO script, but if you did that you would know.. Quote Link to comment
lefos Posted March 4, 2013 Author Share Posted March 4, 2013 So far so good, maybe it is a simplefeatures issue Quote Link to comment
speeding_ant Posted March 4, 2013 Share Posted March 4, 2013 Guys, Have you tried using only simpleFeatures (without SABnzbd, etc) to see if you get issues? Unfortunately there is nothing logged to prove what is causing this issue, but there seems to be a common theme with people having GUI issues. It's a combination of SABnzbd/sick and simpleFeatures GUI. Take one away, problems disappears. Without running SABnzbd/sick I get no reliability issues, and this is with a couple of rigs - not mentioning Bonienls setup and a multitude of test users... Cheers! Quote Link to comment
Helmonder Posted March 5, 2013 Share Posted March 5, 2013 The most reliable plugins non-simplefeatures are delivered by Influencer at the moment. Could it be worthwhile to have a jam session with him and discuss / analyse dependencies ? Not everyone can be pleased but I do think that incompatibility between simplefeatures and the sabnzb/couchpotato.sickbeard should get attention, those last three products are used by the majority of users (discounting those users that do not use any plugin) Quote Link to comment
BillyJ Posted March 5, 2013 Share Posted March 5, 2013 When I first started using unraid I filled it with nearly all the plugins I thought I would ever need. After a few issues and the thought of bogging down my primary file server I have decided to run only 2 "Plugins" & 2 of Speeding Ant's plugins. Webgui Webserver (myPHPadmin) & Lanies / TheOne - Virtual Box Plex from the Plex website. I run 1 lubuntu VM with (CB, SAB,CP, HeadPhones, Lazylib, and what ever else I need to muck around with) So far stability is great, drives are spinning down when they are meant to and rebooting unraid takes only seconds. and I dont have to worry about it. Influencer has done a fantastic job maintaining those plugings and making new ones but it was adding so much complexity. my 2 cents. Cheers WIll Quote Link to comment
Helmonder Posted March 5, 2013 Share Posted March 5, 2013 Billy3: You are describing exactly where I am at the moment... I am about to install a new processor so that I can start using esxi... I also feel that the complexity is now taking away from the wonderfull "just works" feel I got from unraid.. Quote Link to comment
htpcnewbie Posted March 5, 2013 Share Posted March 5, 2013 I am having stability issues as well, on 5rc11. My primary plugins re: simple features, sab, utorrent and couchpotato. There appears to be a memory leak and I get transport end point error often, every day instead of every month when I was on 5rc8a. The 'fix' to temporarily adjust the priority (using oom_score_adj) of emhttp isn't yielding favorable results. I am spending far greater time trying to make my system stable and my unraid "experience" has been slowly dwindling over the last few weeks. I have been seriously considering installing slackware 5 on the system to get around the plugins issue but there is little community support on that front and I am only a moderate Linux user, getting stuck in the details without much help would make it hard. I would like to have the freedom of having an independent Linux environment running unraid and a good community support. Can anyone point me to what options I can consider, links would be great. I like the option of installing LUbuntu or esxi (and unraid on top of esxi). Reliability and forget the system once installed is what I am looking for. A 1.5 yr old with a second one on the way doesn't give me much room for a hobby experience, need an appliance that just works. My rig: Intel quad core Q6600, 4GB DDR2, 10 disks of 12 TB excluding 3TB WD Red parity and 750 WD Black cache. Quote Link to comment

What version, do you have a syslog or an order of events for this. How long was your rig running for. What plugins specifically were you running. How much ram do you have. So on... Thanks Quote Link to comment

Ockingshay Posted March 5, 2013 Share Posted March 5, 2013 i have to throw some weight towards this as I too get this issue. It's when i'm using SF heavily. I have a fresh restart log and i'm waiting for it to crash and i'll post both. Been up for 1day so far, but i haven't been at home to open anything other than the main page to check on a parity check. Things i have observed: 1) It's only the webgui, all other plugins work, ie i can browse using their port number. I can also telnet to it and all shares are up. 2) emhttp doesn't crash: root@Ruby:/var/log# ps aux | grep emhttp | grep -v grep root 29295 0.0 0.0 12084 1648 ? Sl 10:37 0:42 /usr/local/sbin/emhttp 3) There are no out of memory or segfault errors in my log. I have 8GB RAM: root@Ruby:/var/log# free -l total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 8282388 7799584 482804 0 111972 7410088 Low: 835316 555876 279440 High: 7447072 7243708 203364 -/+ buffers/cache: 277524 8004864 Swap: 0 0 0 4) List open files shows: NOTE: 192.168.0.13 is my laptop, but connection to that was terminated. root@Ruby:/var/log# lsof -i -n -P emhttp 29295 root 3u IPv4 38879 0t0 TCP *:80 (LISTEN) emhttp 29295 root 5u IPv4 252224 0t0 TCP 192.168.0.3:80->192.168.0.13:50417 (ESTABLISHED) 5) Netstat shows: root@Ruby:/var/log# netstat Active Internet connections (w/o servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:8003 192.168.0.13:51786 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.:microsoft-ds 192.168.0.4:52214 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:54082 sjc-not8.sjc.dropb:http ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:64446 ks353317.kimsufi.:36767 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:8003 192.168.0.13:49929 ESTABLISHED tcp 546 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.13:51465 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 694 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60207 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 729 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60311 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 730 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60310 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:8003 192.168.0.25:63392 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.13:50417 ESTABLISHED tcp 1 0 192.168.0.3:39001 transmissionbt.com:http CLOSE_WAIT tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:64446 S010600236983b44a:56099 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 143 192.168.0.3:40001 141.101.117.36:http ESTABLISHED tcp 0 162 192.168.0.3:telnet 192.168.0.4:52174 ESTABLISHED tcp 693 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60211 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 694 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60210 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 693 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60208 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:48409 051-184-045-062.d:47009 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:53367 1606ds5-van.0.full:7600 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:58287 192.168.0.12:8888 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:58288 192.168.0.12:8888 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:58289 192.168.0.12:8888 ESTABLISHED tcp 1 0 Ruby:37904 Ruby:57512 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 406 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.13:50507 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 551 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60209 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 546 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.13:51342 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:8003 192.168.0.13:53352 ESTABLISHED tcp 694 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60212 CLOSE_WAIT udp 0 0 192.168.0.3:42538 192.168.0.1:5351 ESTABLISHED 6) I only tried 2 browsers, safari on Desktop and Safari on iOS <- can try others if/when it crashes again. 7) It requires a reboot from within telnet to bring it back. Helmonder Posted March 6, 2013 Share Posted March 6, 2013 Emhttp is still responsive from console, the powerdown command still works, and that relies heavilly on emhttp working. It is only the webpages that are not working anymore. This is actually quite relevant since you are still able to bring the array down gracefully without a parity check after reboot. gregoryx Posted March 6, 2013 Share Posted March 6, 2013 I'm having similar issues. I removed SF after getting the freeze a couple revs back; then put it back recently only to have the freezes resume. Can someone tell me how to restart emhttp (or whatever might work) when this freeze occurs - so I don't need to do a full reboot? The system is working in every other way. The old "killall emhttp" and "nohup /user/local/emhttp &" does not work on v5 systems. Quote Link to comment
Helmonder Posted March 7, 2013 Share Posted March 7, 2013 There is no way to restart emhttp. A reboot is the only way unfortunately/ Quote Link to comment
