[DOCKER] ownCloud is here!

Recommended Posts

I'm currently on 8.0.4 and it is working perfectly.  I'll just sit tight as I can't deal with issues right now.  I use ownCloud for my business and it is core functionality for us.

I was trying to bring my extended family around to the idea of a shared contact and calendar but it is proving problematic due to so many breakages.

Once they get this working again (without me hacking about in it to make it happen) I wont be updating OC for the foreseeable future and the minute I can drop it I am.

What drew me to it other the competition was the official shared contact and calendar support but now they all but put a flashing gif from the 1980s on it saying dont trust it. Marking a feature that used to be core as experimental is just lame.

On my installation, calendar and contacts are showing up as approved, not experimental.

I think I know what's going on.

Your install still has your old calendar and contacts apps on your disk and they are incompatible with 8.1.1 and that's why they show up as experimental.

If you manually delete those two folders and restart, it should show the latest market versions of them, which site up with the label "approved" and should work.

That's another issue with the upgrade process. It doesn't delete old and deprecated apps and they prevent the new market versions from being displayed.

If you exec into the container just delete their folders under /var/www/owncloud/apps/

EDIT: you should probably first try to remove them in the webgui. After you remove them it should start displaying their latest market versions

EDIT2: I just enabled contacts in 8.1.1 (I had never used or enabled it before) from the app market and it works just fine. I think you have to delete your contacts folder and reinstall from the market

Removed them from OC app store webgui and they never came back (restarted etc).

On further investigation OC now complains that:

"This server has no working Internet connection. This means that some of the features like mounting external storage, notifications about updates or installation of third-party apps will not work. Accessing files remotely and sending of notification emails might not work, either. We suggest to enable Internet connection for this server if you want to have all features."

To add to the comedy of errors at the same time it is telling me:

When you open the Apps tab, do you see the categories "Productivity", "Multimedia", etc.? If you do you can find contacts and calendar under "Productivity".

When I first started it, those categories didn't show up right away, but they eventually did (I checked after 15 min or so).

All i see is enabled and Not enabled.

I removed and reinstalled from scratch keeping the appdata and it still complains about no internet connection (which could explain a lot).

I am running away on holiday now will look when I return :)

Ok, this is my fault. OC now requires a certificate file on the config dir: /var/www/owncloud/config/ca-bundle.crt

Fix is on the way.

Made two typos while editing config.sh file. A new version is building as we speak.

I'm having a heck of a time getting the certificate issue to be resolved.  Right now, when I go to the Owncloud address in a web browser, i get:

"The security certificate for this site doesn’t match the site’s web address and may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server."

I have been searching and reading and cannot figure out how to fix this.  I think it is preventing my mobile app from connecting to Owncloud.  Can someone dumb it down for a relative unraid/owncloud noob and help me get past this issue?  I would really appreciate some expert advice.

Thanks,

Greg

I could never make it work so I removed and started again from scratch. That worked flawlessly and lets me add back in the contacts and calendar app.

However it seems like shared contacts is now no longer a feature as you can no longer set permissions on the group? Can anyone confirm?

Has there been any progress on getting the iOS app to connect?

Using my IP address (from outside my network) I can get a secure connection message, but at login it returns an error of "It is not possible to connect to the server at this time."  From inside my network the same IP address connects without issue.  Quite frustrating....

I have no problem connecting from either Safari or the Crypto-Lite app (Inside or outside of my network).  OwnCloud's own app is giving fits......  also tried on an iPad from outside the network with no luck...

I have ownCloud 8.1.1 and iOS version 3.4.4

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi guys

Just installed the docker. I install my dockers on my cache drive but don't want own cloud data on the cache drive (it creates it in the docker). When I create a directory (user share) and go into config file and change it doesn't work. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks
