Gigabyte GA-MA780G-UD3H AM2+, AMD 5050e, 2x Corsair 2GB, 4x 1TB WD10EADS, IDE Sata mode

 

The chipset, southbridge, and realtek nic are all supported so the parity creation and check finished as expected. There was a SB700 "hiccup" that I don't understand though. (Edit: I saw Tom's post on the SB700 error messages but this has more preceding that error.)

Power consumption with no drives and a Seasonic S12 430w:

47w with onboard audio, serial, parallel, disabled

45w with above + vga clock downclocked to 200mhz from 500mhz

45w with above + ide controller disabled

45w with above + cool&quiet disabled (1.2 stock volts)

42w with above @ 1.1v - 2600mhz (13x multiplier)

40w with above @ 1.0v - 2000mhz (10x multiplier)

38w with above @ 0.9v - 1600mhz (8x multiplier)

35w with above @ 0.8v - 1000mhz (5x multiplier)

35w with above + DDR400

 

1.8ghz @ .9v and 1.2ghz @ .8 were stable during some limited testing. I expected CnQ to not work but it's still disappointing.

 

One other thing, if two PCI-E x4 cards are used then PCI-E x1 slot 2 & 3 are disabled.

I noticed something similar on mine as well, but only for ATA4. It happened when both the parity check started and the file mover started at the same time , and the drives were powered off beforehand. I will check my logs tonight.

The last couple of lines of those logs looks similar to what I have been getting with one of my drives.  It is a Seagate 1TB that was previously my parity drive.  I have not had the time to look into it much but it appears to me that it may not be spinning up in time on the first try so unRAID resets it and then all is good.

 

That’s just my guess

There was a SB700 "hiccup" that I don't understand though. (Edit: I saw Tom's post on the SB700 error messages but this has more preceding that error.)

 

That IS a strange "hiccup".  It occurred simultaneously on all 4 drives about an hour and a half into a parity check, and after a single hard reset to each of the 4 drives, continues on without any further issues or loss of speed.  The whole glitch took only 1 or 2 seconds.  It looks like a very brief loss of contact with the entire disk controller, but quickly regained.  Perhaps an electrical spike?  (I'm also just guessing)

Hi,

Could you confirm GA-MA780G-UD3H works with the AMD 5050e, the AMD 5050e is not on the GA-MA780G-UD3H supported CPU list.
