wesjacobs
I was running plex before I upgraded to unriad 6.0.1 today. Tried to load plex with the docker and got this error. Here is a copy of the log when trying to install. Please help, my family loves PLEX!! plugin: installing: https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/0.9.12.4.1192-9a47d21/PlexMediaServer-0.9.12.4.1192-9a47d21-x64-UnRAID.txz plugin: downloading https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/0.9.12.4.1192-9a47d21/PlexMediaServer-0.9.12.4.1192-9a47d21-x64-UnRAID.txz plugin: downloading: https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/0.9.12.4.1192-9a47d21/PlexMediaServer-0.9.12.4.1192-9a47d21-x64-UnRAID.txz ... done Warning: simplexml_load_file(): /tmp/plugins/PlexMediaServer-0.9.12.4.1192-9a47d21-x64-UnRAID.txz:1: parser error : Start tag expected, '<' not found in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix.plugin.manager/scripts/plugin on line 193 Warning: simplexml_load_file(): ?7zXZ in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix.plugin.manager/scripts/plugin on line 193 Warning: simplexml_load_file(): ^ in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix.plugin.manager/scripts/plugin on line 193 plugin: xml parse error Quote Link to comment
trurl
These are errors from installing a plugin, not a docker as you have said. In fact it's not clear that you are even installing a plugin, or at least, not installing it correctly. Give us a link to the actual file you are trying to use, and tell us how you are installing it. wesjacobs
Here is the link https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/0.9.12.4.1192-9a47d21/PlexMediaServer-0.9.12.4.1192-9a47d21-x64-UnRAID.txz I'm copying that link into the "Enter URL of remote plugin file or local plugin file" under the install plugins tab Quote Link to comment
trurl
That is neither a plugin nor a docker. Quote Link to comment
wesjacobs
Ok lol back to basic, how do I load PLEX on unraid 6? Have searched for directions everything seems to be for unraid 5 Quote Link to comment
RobJ
I think you'll find the Upgrading to UnRAID v6 guide helpful, start with the Research and Decision making section. It talks about plugins, Dockers, and VMs and how they're different and when each is best, comments on Plex briefly, has links to the guides on Dockers, and has a section for PhAzE's plugins, including Plex. Edit: When you decide which way you are going, I may move this to a more appropriate board. Quote Link to comment
zapp8rannigan
in the same boat....exactly the same problem....only i've installed it that way before and its worked. If thats not a docker or a plugin what is it? it says its for unraid? Thanks in advance Quote Link to comment
scottc
the file you download from plex.tv is a package NOT a plugin. you download the package and put it on your flash drive in the extra folder and reboot or do installpkg from command line. if your wanting to do the plugin, install PhAze plex plugin from here http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=33341.0 or get the docker from here http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=40654.0 Quote Link to comment
zapp8rannigan
ah ok, i understand so i've rebooted with the package in the extras folder and its supposedly installed, how do i access the webui? I think i need to update my login details because of the forced password change sorry i feel like im hijacking this thread now....im hoping our problems are still related Quote Link to comment
scottc
I believe there is a page in unraid setting now with some configuration option for plex ( dont quote me on that as i use docker ) the web url would be http://tower:32400/web/index.html Quote Link to comment
zapp8rannigan
THANK YOU SO MUCH.... that sorted it i couldn't reach the site because i wasn't putting /web/index.html at the end! now I've re-signed in and its fully accessible again. Just out of interest, im sure this is asked a lot but is there any benefits to using a package, docker or plugin? is it just a case of where you manage the program? Quote Link to comment
scottc
Personally i use docker for the isolation it provides from unraid core os. with docker you dont have to worry about conflicting packages and all that stuff as it is not installing anything on the main OS Quote Link to comment
interwebtech
needo plex docker FTW Quote Link to comment

zapp8rannigan
hmm starting to think i should of installed this docker stuff....but wouldn't that mean i'd have to start again with my library? not in terms of re downloading everything but the "on deck" stuff and poster art selections and stuff?? No. You can point a Docker to your existing configuration files and data folders as they are external to the Docker container. Quote Link to comment
