AOC-SASLP-MV8 - takes longer than usual to find drives
« on: April 12, 2013, 05:53:51 AM »
I'm not exactly sure if this is someting that I should be concerned...

You know when the MV8s perform their drive discovery during boot up and the dots go across the screen.  On my two previous  unRAID configs, the dots would go only about halfway across the screen and take only about 15 seconds per card.  Each drive would show just one dot and 2 at most.

With my latest config (which also happens to be the beefiest), the dots go almost all of the way across the screen and takes around 35 - 40 seconds per card.  Each drive will have 4, 5, 6 dots.

What is causing the difference in discovery speed?  Is this any indication of performance?

FYI...my new MB has 7 8x slots.  Specs of my build are in my sig.
