jeffreywhunter
Saw this on eBay. Would an old Dell R900 make a good unRaid server? 4 Quad Core Processors 32GB DDR2 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-PowerEdge-R900-16-Core-2-5-Server-2-4GHz-32GB-PERC6i-2PS-2-Trays/181454812802?_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D2220072%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D40806%26meid%3Deb5eddf32cd5451a89353507e1dc5b3f%26pid%3D100010%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D222245513259 Quote Link to comment
ashman70
That's quite an old server, it's cheap for a reason, it has no drives, which may be hard to find and not available in large capacities. Also it only holds a total eight drives. Your money would be better spent on a Supermicro server with more bays, you'll spend more but it will be worth it. Also, those old Dell server suck power like no tomorrow and they are loud. Quote Link to comment
jeffreywhunter
I thought that might be the case. Power consumption and noise would be good enough to make me pass. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
