  1. I have all parts gathered and I was ready to build. Someone made a comment to me that my CPU is overkill (power hog and slower than modern CPU's). They recommended I get a 12th or 13th gen CPU and a new board to match. My current part list is as follows: CPU: Intel Core i9-9900k Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro Wifi CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Memory: 64GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400mhz PSU: Corsair RM850X Hard Drives: 2 WD Red 14 TB's, 2 WD Red 8 TB's, 2 WD Red 4 TB's and a 250gb Samsung 960 EVO SSD for cache Case: Fractal Design Define R5 CPU is brand new, in sealed box. MB was only used for a couple months in my personal computer setup. I see that CPU is selling for quite a bit of money recently and by selling it I could probably upgrade for no money out of pocket. My server needs would be as a Plex Media Server, File storage (photo's and backup's) and a Windows 10 and MAC VM's CPU I was told, " Grab a Gaming X Z690 board with a i3 13100. Less energy usage, more compute power, not a dead end move, much better expansion capabilities, MUCH better transcode performance." Cache drive I was told, "The EVO is overkill (if you move to a board with Gen4 on it). A WD SN770 will give you better performance for less money. You should be running NVME in RAID1 pools. A pair of 500gb SN770's will run you $100. 250gb imo is too small Am I wasting time and potential money building with my current parts? Should I look into a 13th gen build?
  2. All my parts are here for the build except ram. I know this board accepts up to 2666 without OC, as that's what the limit is on the i9-9900k anyways, unless you overclock. I was looking at the Corsair Vengeance LPX 32gb 3200mhz kit. I found it for a decent price, but I won't get the full speed unless I enable XMP profile on my board. Wouldn't this cause the system to be less stable in the long run being that its on all the time as a server? Do I just go with the 3200mhz memory and not enable XMP or try to find some 2666 ram for cheaper?
  3. Unless I actually enable OC it doesn't appear to be turned on by default. I'm just unsure how stable it is. Very entry level board from what I am hearing? Also if the VRM's only have issues when overclocking I don't see that being a problem. I don't tend to overclock at all.
  4. Looking to upgrade my current unraid server. Its a Dell PowerEdge T30 with an Intel® Xeon® processor E3-1225 v5 and 8gb of ECC Ram. I have a brand new i9-9900k sitting in the box and a used Asus prime z390-a board that I picked up used from Ebay. Hoping to use them in my new build. I read the Asus board is terrible for VRM's but that should only correlate to overclocking? I don't plan to overclock anything, just looking for a stable build. Keep the i9 and find a better motherboard? Use the Asus anyways? I could sell the intel and go with an AMD setup? Main use for the server is Plex streaming, Windows 10VM, Mac VM and photo/file storage.
  5. I found this combo for $199. Is that a good deal? I'm currently running a Dell PowerEdge T30 with the maximum amount of drives I can run. Looking to expand. Mainly use server for storage and Plex Media Server. I might look into running Windows 10 on a VM though as well.
  6. Is 6.7.2 a Beta version still? Loving your theme as well! 56% i assume is your storage use?
  7. I will post my diagnostics as well. Maybe somebody will see something I am missing. pomznas-diagnostics-20190830-1703.zip
  8. I did check and I still had an empty appdata folder on disk1. I have my app data settings as set to cache only. So I had the folder I actually used under the cache drive and disk 1. I removed the empty folder from disk1 as it was empty anyways. I then changed my allocations to /mnt/cache/appdata instead of /mnt/user/appdata. Then I caught a couple of empty path's that were being added to plex and fixed that. It looked like the docker was trying to force/auto update all my apps in the docker. Plex would stop, remove itself and then try to reinstall with the newest version. I seen in the log it would fail at the /music volume. I double checked the settings on it and it had the movies, tv and music box's added 2 twice to input volumes on. I edited this and fixed it. I then click check for updates on all containers and then when it stated update ready, I then updated all containers. Everything went though and Plex stayed up to do and working, without becoming an Orphan Image. I'm hoping this fixed my issue. I will look into my mover settings. Thanks Harro.
  9. Yes I have a samsung SSD m.2 for my cache drive. I believe I have the cache drive set up correctly. I also have my appdata mapped to /mnt/user/appdata/PlexMediaServer. From watching previous versions of plex installs with Unraid (SpaceInvader videos on youtube), this was the correct patch to use when using a cache drive. I only use Daapd for my itunes music and such. My docker is showing the correct allocations and I'm pointing them to the correct patch on the plex end of my appdata. Unless I am missing something?
  10. I recently updated, about 2 months ago, my Unraid server from Version 6.3 to 6.5. Back when I ran version 6.3 and limetech's Plex docker app I never ever had any problems with anything not working correctly. I recently seen that limetech's plex version was no longer supported and they recommended installing linuxserver's plex docker. I copied all my settings and parameters from the limetech install, removed it from my system, installed linuxserver's Plex docker with the same settings. It kept my library and video files but at first it wouldn't play any of my material at all, come to find out I didn't input anything into the transcode line (I used /tmp) and after that they started to play like normal. Unsure of why that's needed as my shieldTV direct play's anything you throw at it. Since switching though, I've been seeing that my plex docker container is constantly becoming an orphan image everyday. I always have to go back and reinstall it each day. This makes it very hard for my wife and kids to watch plex in the other room when the server isn't working correctly. I have also noticed that everyday I'm having to reinstall the updated community users plugin's app. I'll updated it and when plex has this issue, its telling me I need to reupdate plugin again. Is my server going back in time and undoing my work? It's very frustrating since I never had any of these issues before I updated to the newest version of Unraid and switch to LinuxServer's.IO of Plex. Am I doing something wrong? Am I inputting some wrong parameters or directories? I'll attach screen shots and a system log to this post. pomznas-syslog-20190830-1359.zip
  11. How do I fix that? I was getting really great transfer speed. I'm trying now to transfer over a few movies to my movies folder and the same thing, crawling speeds. I will try to look at my NIC settings.
  12. Done. I downloaded it while trying to copy over the file to my iso's folder. Hopefully I did this correctly. Also If I try cancelling transfer from being too slow, it lags my whole computer and will sometimes take a few minutes to cancel/close and other times will crash explorer.exe altogether.

  14. I'm trying to transfer over some .iso files I downloaded and they are copying very slow. I've downloaded them to my PC and then I try copying them over to my iso folder on my unraid server. The file is 300 mb and its taking me about 2 hours to transfer it. I'm getting about 20 kb/sec transfer speed. I've already transferred over all my movies, music and data and it was blazing fast. The only thing I changed was the location of my server, moved it to my IT closet and plugged it back in. Would a network cable be to blame? Any thoughts?
