  1. How to access private shares?

Hello, I have been using unraid for about 2 years now. I have been the only one needing to access all shares on my network, so i have never needed to create any user profiles (only login as "root") or needed to set the security of any share to anything but public. I am building an unraid server for my buddy and his family and he will need to create different users and set certain shares to private. I am testing this on my server first, and have created a test profile called "liz" with password set to "password", and have created a share called "Liz Folder" with security set to private. My issue is when I try to access the Liz Folder, I get a prompt from windows (win10) for credentials. When i enter "liz" and "password" i am still denied access to the folder. What am i missing here to get access to the folder? Thank you.
  2. Unraid went wonky today

Copy that, thanks for that info. I'll backup the flash and have another usb ready just incase.
  3. Unraid went wonky today

Thanks for your suggestion. I did check this morning that the flash drive was in the 2.0 port, and it was. I moved it to a different usb 2.0 port after restarting unraid. Everything seems to be good now. although, unraid did detect the restart as an unclean shutdown.
  4. Unraid went wonky today

Hello, came home late today and had a notification that unraid had done a parity check even though today was not a scheduled parity check day. Then I realized that the unraid theme was white, instead of black as i have had for quite some time. Then I realized i couldnt change the theme back, or any other setting. Also, looks like dockers are disabled, even tho my Plex docker seems to working fine. Here is a pic of what "Fix Common Problems" shows me. I also downloaded the diagnostic files and will do a reset soon. I am running unraid 6.3.5. Could someone with more technical ability to read this let me know what has happened? Thank You!
  5. My shares temporarily disappeared!

    copy that. thanks buddy!
  6. My shares temporarily disappeared!

Hi squid, thanks for the help and reply. I had been thinking about buying another 16gb of RAM. I've not really made any setting changes via putty, only the web gui. How would I go about fixing the OOM errors.
  7. My shares temporarily disappeared!

Hi all, Sorry for not responding back for some time, I travel alot for work purposes. Just so happens that my unraid server did the exact same thing again last nite, while away this time. I was able to VPN to my home network. I downloaded the diagnostics before rebooting the system, everything came back. I have not made any changes to my server for quite some time. Here is the zip file. Please let me know what it could be. I really appreciate all the help. Thanks.
  8. My shares temporarily disappeared!

    Thanks itimpi
  9. My shares temporarily disappeared!

I woke up this morning and realized that my Plex had stopped itself. When i checked on unraid, all my shares had disappeared! Scared the heck out of me. I could see that all my files were still on the disks. I rebooted unraid and everything came back. I am uploading the Diagnostics file, could someone help me decipher this and let me know what happened? this has never happened before. Thanks.
  10. Hello All, Recently I've had two instances where I loose all connection to my unraid server that I use only for plex media server. The first time it happened (about a month ago) was sometime after the server started a parity check @ 2am in the morning (once a week) when no is watching any media. I had received email notification that the parity check had started, so I know that it was still online. I attributed this first failure to the parity check, thinking that the server had some kind of hiccup. But today (7/5/16) it happened again while I was just on my PC and I noticed that I lost connection to my shares and then i checked and couldn't access PMS. Now I am worried that the issue is with my hardware or the ethernet connection on the motherboard. Unfortunately, I am using a mITX board and am already using the PCIe slot for a SATA expansion card, and cannot add a network card. Here is a list of my components.... MB: ASUS H97I-PLUS mITX CPU: intel i7-4790k w/Noctua NH-L9x65 cooler PS: SILVERSTONE SX500-LG RAM:G.SKILL TridentX Series DDR3 16GB (2 x 8GB) Cache: SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE120BW 2.5" 120GB Parity & Storage: Seagate ST4000VN000 4TB NAS x4 Attached is the Diagnostic zip. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  11. Write Speeds stuck @ 10mbps since update to 6.1.6

Just tried this on my laptop and the transfer speeds were good over wifi, and it got me thinking. I was running out of ethernet ports on my wireless router and decided to kill to birds with one stone and install a switch (TP-LINK TL-SG108) right before I had to update and reboot. Anyways, I went to look at the LED of the ethernet port for my main PC and it was only in orange (10/100). My unraid server was still at green (gigabit). I disabled the nic on the PC and enabled wifi. I transferred a file and sure enough it was going at 50mb/s. I make my own ethernet cables and the one made for my main PC tested good but was not giving gigabit speeds. I changed to a new cable and now its fine. was just a new cable anomaly, it happens. Thanks for for your suggestion and help trurl.
  12. not sure if its something I did or after i upgraded to unraid 6.1.6, but now my transfer speeds (write) from my main PC HDD to an unraid share over gigabit network is stuck @ 10-11 mb/s. Before it would vary from 70 to 25mb/s, almost always at the higher speeds. I have included the diagnostic zip and will include my system info. Any help is appreciated. Sorry if this isnt much info, its my first post. Thank You unraid community. mobo: ASUS H97I-PLUS mITX cpu: Intel Core i7-4790K w/Noctua NH-L9x65 psu: SILVERSTONE SX500-LG ram: G.SKILL TridentX 2x8GB DDR3 parity: Seagate 4TB NAS HDD ST4000VN000 storage: Seagate 4TB NAS HDD ST4000VN000 x2 cache: SAMSUNG 840 EVO 120GB
