Replacing your unRAID Server Registration Key

Per our key replacement policy, in the event that your unRAID USB flash device should become damaged, lost, stolen, or should otherwise fail, Lime Technology offers a process to replace your unRAID Server OS registration key and transfer it to a new USB flash device.

IMPORTANT:  An original key may be replaced at any time.  A replacement key may be replaced for another replacement after 12 months.  Should you require another replacement key within that 12 month period, send an e-mail to support@lime-technology.com to discuss your options.

Once a registration key is transferred to a new USB flash GUID, the previous USB flash GUID becomes permanently blacklisted from use with key registration. Once a USB flash GUID is blacklisted, the action cannot be reversed.

Replacement Procedure (unRAID 6)

Obtaining a replacement key under unRAID 6 can be accomplished online:

  1. Obtain a new quality USB flash device (see here for some recommendations).
  2. Restore a complete backup of your previous flash device to the new device or download and install unRAID Server OS 6, then boot up.
  3. Install your original registration key on the new flash device* if not already present.
  4. Navigate to the Registration page of the webGui from a browser (Tools -> Registration) and click Replace Key.
  5. Enter your e-mail address on the next page and click Submit to have a new key e-mailed to you automatically.
  6. Copy the link from your e-mail for the key and paste it into the Key file URL field on the Registration page, then click Install Key.

* To install your original registration key, you can either copy the key file directly to the config folder on the flash device or you can copy the original key download link from your e-mail into the Key file URL field on the Registration page of the webGui (Tools -> Registration).

Replacement Procedure (unRAID 5)

Obtaining a replacement key for unRAID 5 is a manual process handled via email:

  1. Obtain a new quality USB flash device (see here for some recommendations).
  2. Restore a complete backup of your previous flash device to the new device or download and install unRAID Server OS 5, then boot up.
  3. Click on the ‘flash’ share on the webGui Main page.  Select/copy/paste the Flash GUID displayed there and send an email requesting a replacement key to support@lime-technology.com.  Please include in your email the GUID of your old USB Flash device for which the key is replacing.
