First NAS OS that Plays and Stores Media and Games on the Same System
SAN MARCOS, CA – June 15, 2015 – Lime Technology announced today the release of unRAID® Server OS 6, which enables gamers to combine all the benefits of a high-end gaming PC with that of a powerful NAS solution. Through virtualization, gamers can play games, stream media, create content, and protect data — all in one system. By having a massive storage array*, gamers can move games between SSDs and HDDs with ease, without needing to delete and re-install games later.
By collapsing their hardware budget into a single system, users can have the additional benefits of affording a better processor/GPU, increasing frame rate and load times, and upgrading hardware without having to reinstall software.
“Many gaming rigs are vastly underutilized. With modern high-performance processors capable of virtualization and supporting up to eight hyper threaded cores, there is much more that they can do than just play games,” said Jon Panozzo, chief strategy officer, Lime Technology. “In addition to allowing gamers to frag with the best of them, their underutilized system resources could be put to better use, providing services to various devices throughout their home such as streaming media, protecting data, and sharing files.”
Data is protected both in the array and cache pool and storage devices of various sizes, speeds, brands, and protocols can be mixed and matched. Desktop applications and network services are also separated from each other, preventing conflicts and isolating risk.

unRAID Server OS 6 comes in three versions: Basic, Plus and Pro and pricing starts at $59. More information may be found at lime-technology.com.
